What are Functional Skills?
Functional Skills are qualifications in English, Mathematics and ICT that equip learners with the practical skills needed to live, learn and work successfully and the ability to apply these skills effectively to a range of purposes in the workplace and in other real life situations.
Edexcel Functional Skills are available in England only from Entry 1 to Level 2. Suitable for learners of all ages, they’re also a mandatory part of all Apprenticeship frameworks in England.
Edexcel Mathematics Functional Skills (on demand paper) £125
Edexcel English Functional Skills £150 (including speaking and listening unit)
Functional skills papers are on demand and only require a 14 day notice period.
For example if you booked your test on the 10th June the first available date would be the 24th June .
The results would be released within 28 days of sitting the exam.
Maths Level 1 and 2 will now have 2 papers that need to be sat in one session a calculator and non calculator paper Level 1 : calculator paper 1 hour 30 minutes 42 marks 75% of final mark non-calculator paper 25 minutes 14 marks 25% of final mark level 2 : calculator paper 1 hour 30 minutes 48 marks 75% of final mark non-calculator paper 25 minutes 16 marks 25% of final mark English Level 1: Speaking : formal group discussion 10 mins (presentation approximately 4 mins followed by 6 minutes of questioning: total of around 10 mins) Writing paper : 1 hour Reading paper 1 hour Level 2 : Speaking : Formal group discussion 15 minutes (Presentation approximately 6 mins followed by 5 to 10 minutes of questions total) Writing paper 1: 60 minutes (Dictionary is not permitted) 36 Marks Reading paper 2: 75 minutes (Dictionary may be used) 35 Marks Please note that there is a cancellation fee of £40 per paper before the deadline (2 weeks before the exam)No cancellations or refunds are allowed after this date.
